| Desde hace algunos años Grupomanía se mantiene como favorito del público en su natal Puerto Rico y las plazas que han conquistado con su sabor. Esta agrupación merenguera se distancia de las demás al llevar el género a otro nivel. Con más altas que bajas, se han distinguido por su dominio escénico, candentes bailes y entrega total. Dan para recibir Sus presentanciones en fiestas pueblerinas son abarrotadas por su fiel fanaticada y sus eventos masivos son éxitos totales de taquilla. Gran parte de su fama y el respaldo que reciben del público se debe al carácter humilde de sus componentes. Porque el combo merenguero no sólo se dedica a divertir desde las tarimas, sino que apoya distintas causas benéficas y hasta tiene un programa de becas para estudiantes de escasos recursos económicos. En 1993, tres hermanos con vasta experiencia como coristas en orquestas de renombre decidieron lanzarse de manera independiente con su propio proyecto. Héctor Iván 'Banchy', Oscar y Edwin Serrano Matos reclutaron al coreógrafo Alfred Cotto para emprender esta aventura. Amor a primer baile Sus dinámicas coreografías y expresión corporal, en unión a sus agresivos y contagiosos mambos, rápidamente cautivó la atención de las ondas radiales y los bailadores con su álbum debut A Bombazo Sí. Al año siguente, Edwin fue sustituido por Elvis Crespo. Con su segunda producción, Explotó el Bombazo, se afianzaron de manera definitiva en el panorama nacional y sobrepasaron las 50 mil unidades vendidas, lo que les ganó su primer Disco de Oro. En 1995 lanzaron Dancemania y superaron su propia marca al registrar ventas de más de cien mil copias. Esto les mereció un Disco de Platino, y el que Sony Tropical les extendiera una jugosa oferta para añadirlos a su catálogo de artistas. Las tres producciones previas habían sido independientes. Exitos y más éxitos Con el respaldo de la multinacional sacan al mercado Está de Moda y ganaron un Disco Doble Platino. Fue en ese momento que Elvis abandonó el cuarteto para probar suerte como solista. Su salida no repercutió de manera negativa en el conjunto, que como trío lanzó al año siguiente The Dream Team. En 1997, Grupomanía ocupó la sala de conciertos más importante de Puerto Rico en el Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré. ************************************************************** During a flight from San Juan to New York City, Oscar Serrano, member of Merengue supergroup Grupo Manía stared into the endless ocean and felt inspired enough to write a song. The song's lyrics tell the story of a young man who attends a party alone and dreams of being accompanied by a beautiful girl, just like all his friends. He goes for a sad walk on the shore of a beach in San Juan and just like a male version of the fairy tale Cinderella, a beautiful girl appears from a shell ("caracolito") that he picks up from the foam of a wave. He returns to the party with his new "date" and becomes center of attention and admiration of all those present. Grupo Manía combined the colorful storyline with a rhythmic Merengue arrangement and named the song "Caracolito". That was the start of the Puerto Rican group's first single from their highly anticipated album " Grupo Manía 2050". "It's great to elaborate on the fantasy", comments Oscar, alluding to the lyrics of "Caracolito", as he explains that the song title represents what is familiar to Grupo Manía : "the Caribbean, the tropics, the beach, the waves…" Grupo Manía can honestly claim that they have realized many fantasies of their own, including being nominated for three Grammy's and touring most of the world. With the release of "Grupo Manía 2050", they will surely succeed in living out more of their fantasies. "We have all the faith in the world in our new album because we have put all of our effort in this project and have received incredible support from our record company, Universal" affirm the members of this quartet.
